Kemangi is a small leaf whose leaves are usually eaten as a salad. The aroma of the leaves is distinctive, strong but soft with a touch of lime. Kemangi leaves is one of the herbs for pepes. As fresh vegetables, kemangi leaves are usually eaten together with cabbage leaves, cucumber slices, and chili sauce to accompany chicken or fried fish.
